GREAT Scholarship for Indian Students to Study in UK

In order to support more Indian students to study in the UK, the British Council, together with 12 UK universities, has launched the GREAT Scholarship 2020 – India programme. With 13 postgraduate scholarships on offer, the total value of India’s scholarship scheme is over £120,000. The single value of each scholarship is a minimum of £10,000.
This scholarship scheme will offer an exciting opportunity for Indian students wishing to get financial support to pursue postgraduate level study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, with most scholarships covering all postgraduate (taught) subjects.

Eligibility criteria for GREAT Scholarship
- Applicants must be Indian passport holders and resident in India at the time of application.
- Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university
- Meet the English language requirement of the UK Higher Education Institution
- Have an offer from one of the participating UK universities
- The course applied is starting in September 2020

Two Scholarships of £11,000 each. Applicable for Full time master’s courses in

Imperial College London
One Scholarship of £10,000 each. Applicable for courses in
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Medicine

Two Scholarships of £10,000 each. Applicable for
- Postgraduate taught programme in the School of Social Sciences, including Law
- Postgraduate taught programme in the Faculty of Science and Engineering
The University of Warwick
One Scholarship of up to £20,000 each. Applicable for Master’s programmes in the School of Engineering
University of East Anglia
One Scholarship of £10,000 each. Applicable for all courses.
University of Kent
One Scholarship of £10,000 each. Applicable for all courses.
University of Nottingham
One Scholarship of £10,000 each. Applicable for all courses.

Profile of a GREAT Scholar
- Motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course.
- Active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area.
- Willing to embody the UK Higher Education experience, by attending lectures and tutorials and engaging with extra-curricular activities, and act as an ambassador for UK Higher Education, by promoting the value of studying at a UK HEI.
- Willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment.
- Represent the high standards of the GREAT brand by becoming an advocate for scholarships
- Willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK
