What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System and is a widely accepted English language proficiency test around the world. Whether you are intending to study or work abroad in an English speaking country, you will be required to take an English test in order to prove your ability to work or study in an English speaking environment. IELTS test scores are internationally recognised in countries like United Kingdom (UK), Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada and so on.  This test examines your ability in four skills:

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking

Academic IELTS – For those who wish to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

General IELTS – For those migrating to English speaking countries for the first time for employment, training or vocational programmes. The general IELTS test is not design for degree study

The test can be taken in two formats – (1) Pen & Paper IELTS (2) Computer-delivered IELTS. To find out more about the differences between these two formats click here.
