Eligibility criteria for each course is different. Generally, to study in Australia Indian students must meet a minimum English language requirement and minimum academic score in Class XII or UG degree depending on the situation. For admission in UG degree, a minimum of 65% in class XII is required but some institutions accept students who have a score of lower than 65%. Foundations and Diploma programmes are available for students who have secured below 60%. For enrolling in PG diploma and degree programs, academic eligibility is highly variable and depends on many factors. Some of most important documents required to apply for studying in Australia are:

• Mark sheets of Class X, XII, and Bachelors degree (if applicable)
• At least, two academic reference letters from professors who have taught you most recently
• If you have work experience, then one letter of recommendation from the employer/manager
• Statement of Purpose (SOP)
• Resume
• Photocopied score reports of IELTS/TOEFL (English Language)
• GMAT if required by the university
• Portfolio (in case of students applying for art and design courses and architecture programmes)
• Others (Scholarships/ Certificates / achievements at the state and national level and extracurricular activities)

Documents for Australia Study Visa

Following documents will be required for the Visa application:

• Valid passport – Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your period of stay in Australia
• Completed Student Visa Application Form
• Application fee payment receipt
• Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) certificate i.e. an offer of place from an Australian institute/university. The forms are usually issued after the tuition fees have been received
• Acceptance letter from the host university which will include proposed study plan
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) – Overseas health insurance receipt
• Health and Character certificates (by empanelled doctor), to prove that your intention of staying in New Zealand is genuine
• Two-four passport sized photographs
• Transcripts, and certificates of your education 
• English Language Test Scores IELTS/ TOEFL
• Your intention to depart Australia upon completion of the study Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE). This means that you should be able to convince that you only intend to travel to Australia for studies and would return to your home country at the end of the course or after a few years of experience. Your circumstances in your home country which includes your economic circumstances; Potential circumstances/opportunities for you in Australia; Value of your chosen course to your future; Your immigration history; Any other relevant matters
• Financial statements to prove you have funds for remaining tuition fee and living expenses. Students have to show the availability of funds covering their first year of tuition fee, living expenses, and travel airfare
• Good character – you do not have any criminal case against you/never deported; declaration form is usually enough

You can include family members when you lodge your visa application. For student visas, your family member is:

• your partner, or
• you or your partner’s dependent child who is unmarried and has not turned 18 years of age.

You must declare your family members in your student visa application even if they do not plan to travel with you to Australia. If you do not do this, your family members will not be eligible for a student visa to join you in Australia. Your family members can also apply as a subsequent entrant (at a later time, separate from your application). Family members who apply for the visa must meet our requirements for health and character.

Family members of students studying a Masters by coursework or research, or doctorate (PhD) can work unlimited hours once the primary student visa holder has started their course. Family members of students enrolled in below master’s program can work part-time 20 hours/week.

PR in Australia

After completing your studies, you should switch to a post-study work visa and find an employer/job who sponsors you for long-term PR visa substreams like 189, 190, 491.
